[edit] Group Description

The Black Chapter is a chapter on bungie.net dedicated to discussing things that the forum rules do not allow - namely, political and religious discussion. It has the dubious honour (along with Body Politic) of being linked to in the rules as a place to go to discuss these topics.

Founded 20th January 2005 by Un Gato, its wayward founder has generally left most moderation duties to others since leaving for university.

It has a small core of regulars, and is the most active of the three main politics chapters (Body Politic, Discussion Corner and The Black Chapter), as well as the largest and oldest.

The group is mostly dominated by left-wing atheists, but there is a dedicated group of religious folk, mostly led by King88 (formerly Kingcream), Shurporka and EAGLES5. As such, there is often rather frivolous debate over such issues as 'Intelligent Design', 'Evolution', 'Does God exist?' and other silly topics. There are also several hard line Objectivists, who have a nasty habit of getting into arguments with the mostly socialist mods, or getting driven out after being given a derogatory title for being overly pretentious. (See: Colonel Corbec)

Despite that, it also has fairly frequent discussions on philosophy, drugs, sexuality and morality, which tend to be much more satisfying and far more interesting for all involved. In the past, GameJunkieJim would enter discussions on various issues (most notably drug use) with those who frequented the chapter, but he's rarely been seen since about 2006. VII Toast was also a frequent member at its beginning, but is almost never seen.
