Halo Reach Beta April 29th: Covy Slayer Gameplay in HD
April 30, 2010
My first Covy Slayer game in the Halo:Reach Beta on April 29th. Covenant Slayer is very fast paced, but as soon as everyone figures out the noob combo, it's no longer as fun. Now everybody rolls up to you with a Gravity Hammer or sticky grenade and then roll away. You wont find intense and memorable matches like this anymore :/
The reason my grenades were always off in the above video is because the throwing angle was slightly different in this game. Remember how each Halo game changed the angle? Reach was no exception, and I still hadn't gotten used to it by the Beta's end. Hopefully with more practice I'll get used to it again. IMO, Halo 3's throwing system was the best though. This is also my first time using the Needle Rifle.
Elites are guys you want to have on your team instead of against you, so play Invasion! You can also play as an Elite in Firefight versus, and Elite Slayer in the full game.
Elite Slayer is a lot harder than it looks. Gameplay is different in Halo Reach, and different tactics need to be employed. This was April 29th before the bulk of the players got online as well, so it was hard to communicate with people. Some have said I followed my Motion Tracker a lot--how else would I get kills when no-one is talking? I thought it was pretty obvious, especially on a map like Sword Base!
And once again, this particular match was my FIRST Covy Slayer match. Playing Reach is like going from Halo CE to Halo 2; different games.
-Cannot Evade in the air
-Faster than Spartans; a little faster than Halo 3 MLG settings
-Shields recharge twice as fast and so does health (essentially, Elites' healthbar is the Halo 3 health system. In Halo 3, your shields and health needed 15 seconds to fully recharge, even though your health was hidden)
-Lots of hilarious gargles and worts!
-Wort wort wort!
Changes from Beta to full game, as shown in this video:
-Spartans can use Evade as well
-Needle Rifle has 21 rounds
-Plasma Repeater perspective and design changed
-Sword Base has more dynamic lighting
